Perfectionism. If we had to define the essence of UNYCO in one word, this would be the right word. After all, this is what drives us in each piece we make: the desire to create original products designed with a simple and functional design, craftsmanship and timeless beauty. It is not an easy process to combine all these qualities in a single piece with a Portuguese soul. After several weeks of decisions taken in a surprising harmony, fueled by the same passion for cork, for creativity and for Portugal, all the conditions were created to take the first step. Or rather, the second step. The first was given by Nature, which generously provided us with its versatility and the originality of tones and textures of this simple and special raw material. After all, no one is more perfectionist than Nature itself.
At UNYCO we believe in a sustainable future and our mission is to care for the environment through sustainable raw materials . Our initial challenge was to create an ecological, comfortable and economical piece inserted in a sustainability ecosystem.
Through several tests, we choose the materials that, when combined, present the characteristics that we consider vital for our product, comfort, resistance and sustainability.
Cork has important environmental advantages, so we can say that "the cork is green." Natural, renewable, reusable, 100% biodegradable and recyclable.
One of the main positive points of the rubber recycling process is that the material can be 100% reused. This means that practically all the discarded rubber can be reused to make new products, without the need to extract more raw material from nature.
The plastic in the oceans is one of the major environmental of our time, by 2050 the sea will have more plastic by weight than fish. Plastic pollution of the ocean is the result of a deeply ill-structured system, in which the manufacture of a non-biodegradable product can continue unchecked.
The use of these wastes has been gaining acceptance by the industry, integrating them into materials that can be used in construction, in order to minimize environmental problems, contributing to sustainability.
Creating a recycled and biodegradable product no is enough. You need the right conditions to ensure that the cycle is complete. Therefore, we developed a program where we collect and recycle used flip-flops. avoiding waste and reducing environmental pollution, new flip-flops will be produced and inserted into the commercial cycle.
The entire collection and recycling process leaves its footprint on the environment. We strive to do more and better, with the help of local and national institutions and associations, we ensure that for each end-of-life product sent to us, a tree will be planted within the scope of the reforestation program in force.
Every cycle of the manufacturing process we will reuse more recycled material and more trees will be planted.
